Chandrika *is* excellent! I often find myself remarking to my friends/family what a nice thing she did, or how she helped inspire me, or what new thing she taught me. And they are impressed. I’ve been her cello student for three years. She introduced me to other students so now I’m in a quartet that she coaches, too, which I love. She answers questions with consideration for my individual learning steps and style and with something more interesting than I thought the answer would be. By her example she taught me to have a positive, kind, observant, joyful view of myself while playing. I hear sad stories from fellow students who had a different teacher before who wasn’t good at hearing questions, and they are clearly thankful they found Chandrika instead. I’m sure there are other incredible teachers out there, but Chandrika is one of them. It’s hard to know at first whether a teacher is as good as it gets. Look for someone vividly inspiring and certainly not quietly judgy. Look for someone direct and engaged not oblique or half-aloof. Look for someone thoroughly interested in you as an individual student, not ever full of themselves. Look for someone graceful, not prone to frustration. Look for a Chandrika! ~ Anthony H.
